Good nutrition and regular physical activity is important for active and growing kids.

All kids need to eat a variety of foods. That means:

  • plenty of fruit and vegetables
  • wholegrain breads and cereals
  • at least 3 serves of dairy everyday
  • lean meats and oily fish

Also, being active can help kids grow and develop properly, by helping them build strong bones and muscles, improving and developing new skills, and build confidence.

Did you know kids need at least 60 minutes of physical activity every day? The more the better, and the options are endless! Here’s a few suggestions:

  • Walk or ride to school
  • Hit the playground
  • Grab a footy, netball or frisbee
  • Join a dance class or team

As for tv and computer games, try to limit screen time to less than 2 hours a day, and make sure everyone but especially kids take regular breaks.
